Resource Centre

The NAC Resource Centre was established to provide a focal point for the national coordination of HIV and AIDS information collection and dissemination. It also provides a central point for the network HIV and AIDS information resource centers in Zambia. The NAC Resource Centre is an integral part of the NAC‘s multi-sectoral response to the HIV and AIDS pandemic.

Mission :

To provide excellent information resources, programs and services

Functions:

  • To maintain a comprehensive collection of HIV/AIDS/STI/TB information;
  • A clearing house and repository for Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials on HIV/AIDS and related diseases;
  • Effective and efficient distribution of IEC materials,
  • Effective and efficient organization, storage and dissemination of information resources
  • Provision of information advisory services
  • Maintenance of bibliographic databases and the website
  • Coordination of HIV/AIDS Resource Centers in Zambia
  • Collaboration with other HIV and AIDS information providers
  • Monitoring and evaluation of Resource Centre services at NAC secretariat and its substructures.

Users:

  • The resource centre is open to:
  • NAC secretariat;
  • PATFS & DATFs;
  • Cooperating partner’s
  • Policy makers;
  • Civil society;
  • Private and public sector organizations;
  • Researchers; and
  • General public.

Services:

The Resource Centre provides the following services:

  • Reference library
  • User advisory services
  • Photocopying and printing services (at fee)
  • Computer access to on-line catalogues, databases and the internet.
  • Multimedia services
  • Document delivery (via post or e-mail)

Resources:

The collection consists of both print and non print information resources which include books, videos, audio cassettes, CDs, DVDs, journals, newsletters, daily newspapers, kits, games, Braille, and databases. It also holds ephemeral materials consisting of pamphlets, newspaper clippings and vertical files of grey literature. These materials address the core areas of HIV and AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support, community health, policy and other issues relating to the pandemic including TB and STIs.

Service Hours:

Open: Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm.
Closed: Lunch hour (1 pm – 2pm), weekends and on all public holidays.
